A Student from Brazil Uses Shared Serial Ports for his Fraduation Project
André Frederico, computer engineer student, shares one port between two applications using Shared Serial Ports to control sensors on cereal harvester
industry: education
Personal Background: André Frederico Lucas da Silva is Brazilian. He is 24 years old and now he is graduating as Computer Engineer. He studies in UNOPAR in Londrina-PR. André is developing a project now to control some sensors on cereal harvester, and this project is his graduating project. André likes music and he plays drums. His hobby as well as main profession is IT and everything connected with hi-tech.
Victoria Veligodsky: What were the main challenges you faced that made you search for this kind of software product?
André Frederico Lucas da Silva: For my graduation project I needed to share one serial port, so two applications could access this one port simultaneously.
Victoria Veligodsky: Where did you find Shared Serial Ports by Eltima Software?
André Frederico Lucas da Silva: I searched Google for a solution that shared COM ports between applications. And found your Shared Serial Ports. This was an easy task as search results returned your solution immediately.
Victoria Veligodsky: Did you experimented with other similar products before choosing Eltima’s solution?
André Frederico Lucas da Silva: No, I haven’t found another product that did the same thing. Shared Serial Ports was the only software that was suitable for my project. It has exactly the features I needed and was simple enough to use.
Victoria Veligodsky: Please, tell us how you are using our product now.
André Frederico Lucas da Silva: I’m using Shared Serial Ports to finish my graduating project. I am developing a software to control some sensors on cereal harvester. So Eltima’s software made it possible to send and receive data from serial COM port, controlled by two applications at once.
Victoria Veligodsky: What were the main benefits you got from using Shared Serial Ports?
André Frederico Lucas da Silva: I could establish the communication between my applications and a serial port. Now I am testing my software. So I need Shared Serial Port to make my applications work in failure-free mode, simultaneously with one serial COM port.
