Victoria Veligodsky: What challenges have driven you to search for software of this kind?

Christopher A. Kohlman: Numerous times in the past semester I have had students come to me upset because they have lost the FLA file for some of their projects. Or even more commonly, they had a project the way they wanted it at one point then continued to edit it until they messed it up and had saved over the original FLA.

Victoria Veligodsky: How did get to know about Flash Decompiler by Eltima Software?

Christopher A. Kohlman: I used Google search engine to find a tool that would de-compile a Flash file into its constituents. The search has taken me to your corporate website, where I managed to find Flash Decompiler for Mac.

Victoria Veligodsky: Have you experimented with other products for the same task before choosing Eltima solution? Why did you prefer our product?

Christopher A. Kohlman: I have previously used the decompiler by another software producer, but they do not make a Mac version, so I had been looking for a new software solution. This led to some other applications for your software as I am finding that I can use the Decompiler as a teaching tool as well.

Victoria Veligodsky: Please, describe how you are using Flash Decompiler now.

Christopher A. Kohlman: I use Flash Decompiler to help students retrieve FLA’s from their projects they’ve lost or messed up.

I also do a lot of web design on the side for companies and had years worth of work on a backup hard drive that died a month or so ago. So now I have lots of sites out there that I no longer have my FLA files for. This is where Flash Decompiler is invaluable as a retrieval tool.

Victoria Veligodsky: Did you benefit from using our solution? If you did, please describe in which way.

Christopher A. Kohlman: The students can find projects that they find interesting and take them apart, looking at the action script and learning how to recreate it from scratch. What I have found is that many of the students’ projects are fairly large when they have completed them because they are not familiar with optimization methods.

So now I am planning to purchase your Flash Optimizer for Mac in order to help them with the problem of large Flash files. [Victoria: Eltima decided to present Christopher with a single license of Flash Optimizer as a "thank you" for his cooperation with us and participation in the case study.]
