  1. elroy said,

    First off guys, let me just say: “AWESOME!”

    The welts, which have resulted from bashing my head against the keyboard in frustration as a result of attempting to get other sync apps working, may finally have a chance to heal.

    I completely understand that this is a complex task AND that this is beta software, but unfortunately I’ve been unable to sync my mac (PPC 10.5.1) with my Dopod D810 (WM6 Pro).

    After installing SyncMate and applying the network port, whenever I plug the phone into the mac, an alert appears on the phone stating that I need to install ActiveSync 4.5 or newer. At the same time SyncMate launches on the Mac and requests a password.. which I don’t have active on my phone.

    No matter what I enter in the password field I simply cannot connect with the phone.

    Thanks for creating this application guy, it’s greatly appreciated. A well designed and mac like solution to this problem has been long over due.

    This post isn’t by any means a complaint – I just want to let you guys know that this issue exists for at least one user (and let anyone else with the same issue know that they’re not alone).

  2. Armin said,

    Very promising Software, seems to be excellently done – just that on 10.5 there is no additional network port available to connect to the device. ANy hint is very welcome, as I am desperate to sync OS X 10.5 with my Windows Mobile 5 device.

    Please let us know soon and keep up the good work!

  3. Helen White said,

    Now we are working hard on these problems. The new version is already on our radar so please give us some time to fix these glitches.

    @elroy
    Sure you don’t need either ActiveSync or password …
    Thanks for letting us know about an issue.

    @Armin
    Please, email to support@eltima.com and describe the problem in details, our support department will help you.

    @All
    Thanks for your interest in our software and kind words! We appreciate you understand that this is beta version. (:
    Stay tuned, I’ll post new version release note here.

  4. There’s any chance to see a Linux version?

  5. Wing said,

    Hi everyone,

    is “SyncMate 1.0″ able to sync with Entourage 2004/2008?

  6. DecimusMaximus7 said,

    Will there be support for syncing with Entourage at some point?

  7. michael said,

    Hi, it would be great if there’s a chance for older wmobile-versions like 2002/3 to sync.

  8. Flareman said,

    Same here, I installed SyncMate, connected my Qtek 9000 (flashed with a WM6.0 Professional ROM), opened up Network Preferences, found no interface set up for the device, I added an Ethernet interface myself (en4) and clicked apply now.

    Now, when I connect the device, SyncMate starts up by itself, it asks for a password (which I haven’t set up on my 9000), and the 9000’s screen displays a message that ActiveSync 4.5 is required to synchronize. Worth mentioning, I am on an Intel C2D iMac running 10.5.1.

    Please fix this, Missing Sync has not been properly updated for a very long time, we ‘ve all been waiting for a decent (and *free*) solution for WM syncing and it would be a terrible shame to see this effort doomed from step 1. Bugs are okay more or less, but this prevents up from even using the program:(

  9. Berz said,

    My motorola Q won’t show up anywhere, the usb logo in the corner continues no matter what i do to show the no connection sign, and wont let me connect.

  10. Jennifer said,

    This looks like it will be a great solution to those of us who are not the biggest fan of that other mac/wm product. :)
    I’m especially eager to try out the SMS features.
    Any future plans to include Bluetooth sync??

  11. Distak said,

    AWESOME! Thank you. Missing Sync is buggy and though I managed to use it for the trial period, a freeware solution could not come at a better time. i wish you guys the best of luck–consider me hooked.

  12. Terry said,

    I am suffering from the same issue that Elroy has. It is asking for activesync 4.5. I am running windows professional 6 on a Samsung i760.

  13. magu said,

    Congratulations on the project!

    It is always great to have good free software available to platforms other than Windows.

  14. Chris said,

    I have the same problem as Armin on 10.5. No new network port prompt appears in Network under System Preferences.

  15. Frederik said,

    Hi

    I am very glad that ther finally is another sorftware to sync your wm mobile device with your mac.

    But at the momenta I have the exact same problem that elroy has.

  16. sthig said,

    Hey I established a new connection but syncmate does nothing. I have tried connecting and disconnecting my phone (a tmobile MDA) and it won’t establish connection. What am I doing wrong?

  17. mateuszek said,

    Hi! This software is really great, but the syncing between my mobile device (WinMobile 5, DellAxim) and my Mac 10.5 doesn’t work. With other features i have no problems.
    And a question: i have on my iCal 6 different calendars – if the syncing worked, would i have to sync all the cal’s one after another or is there any possibility to sync them all?

  18. mateuszek said,

    sorry… i mean: the syncing of iCal between my mobile device and Mac Os doesn’t work. sorry for mistake…

  19. jamdung said,

    Any chance you’ll ever support PocketPC 2003 (I think it’s sometimes called Windows Mobile 2003)??

  20. extraforce said,

    Some feedback on my initial run with Syncmate on a QTEK 9100 (HTC) running Windows Mobile 5.

    After resolving some initial issues to get the en2 network port set up properly (apparently if en3 and en4 are disabled on your mac it does not automatically create the en2 port when connecting your phone the first time) my phone still does not connect under OSX 10.4.11.

    Since Syncmate keeps asking for a password (I didn’t remember ever setting one for my phone) I did set a password temporarily to test if this would change anything but the phone still refused to get connected.

    Sadly enough since I have already had to much issues whilst trying other pieces of software claiming effortless syncing of my phone with my mac, after 45 minutes I have given up on this piece of work as well. Don’t blame Syncmate though. Simply don’t want to waste anymore time and effort on this issue. Next time I’ll just see to it that I buy a phone that has a descent OS and the sync functionality built right into the phone so it does not rely on some piece of proprietary software the original manufacturer refuses to release the specs of.

    Thanx anyway for putting in the effort and I hope others will be more successful in connecting their phone with the beta. There is definitely a need for a simple and proper piece of software to solve this issue so keep up the good work and I’m of course hoping the final release will work for me. I’ll definitely give it a new try once it gets released.

  21. Brian said,

    @elroy – I have the same issue, it reports a Handshake error on the Actions log.

    @Armin – I noticed on my installation that VMWare had created an en2 adapter and I had to remove the interface from the list, then unplug and re-plug the WM5/6 Device for it to be re-created.

  22. Andrew said,

    i’ve been looking for one of these apps ever since i got my phone. but i haven’t been able to sync them up either. hopefully we’ll get something soon…or if you have any tips..let me know!

  23. confused guy said,

    so i can sync my moto q with my ibook G4 10.4 with this program and no need for anything else?

  24. Vincent said,

    Hi, I face the same problem as Elroy too. No matter what password I keyed in, the software will not detect my HTC Touch WM6 Phone. I am using a PPC Mac 10.4.10.

    Thank you for your work!! I’m looking forward to using your software. :D

  25. Martin Whoever said,

    Great piece of software if it would work with my Yakumo Alpha (Acer N35) with WinMobile 2003. But on my Intel iMac I get no new network port and the Yakumo is not detected – though it apears as “vendor specific” in the “about my mac” box.
    So is there a chance to get Windows Mobile 2003 PPCs working?

  26. Also, my WM6 HTC 6800 (Mogul) doesn’t connect to my mac at all. No network popup or anything. how can I make your program see it.

  27. And I can’t spell Photography, lol

    Hello and thanks a lot for this program.
    But I have the same problems as elroy mentioned.
    (10.5, WM6)
    -> Syncmate ask a password which i never had. I also tried to give one and tried with them but i can’t sync
    -> my mobile sais that i need a computer with active sync 4.5 or newer…

    so i can only confirm the errors alredy known. But i’m pleased to hear again from you to give this program a chance.

  30. Helen White said,

    Thank you all for your cooperation. As regards reported issues about an error message which asks you to install ActiveSync 4.5 (or more recent) and a password request – they are already concerned and will be fixed shortly.
    Bear in mind that next release note will be posted here so you can subscribe to RSS feed or Eltima software updates.

    this is just what I’ve been looking for! And so easy to use! I connected my G3 700 iBook with my ASUS MyPal PDA and synced my addressbook in one fell swoop! Worked like a dream. I have no need for the other functions as yet, but will certainly check them out when the need arises. Thanks for this great application!

    Hi there.
    First… thanks for working on this tool. However, for some reason, my Moto Q is not recognized by the application at all. The USB logo with the cross through it remains no matter what I do. I have a dual G5 desktop running 10.5 and the Moto Q has Windows Mobile 5.
    Thanks for all you do!

    Still no go. Program installs and just sits there. Connect and Sync buttons are greyed out. Hooked up phone before launching software, also during software – Still grey. I tried turning on the phone too, no go. I once hit Sync on the phone itself and then SyncMate crashed.

    I have OS X 10.5.1 and a WM6 device.

    I am having the same password issue on a Samsung Blackjack – I do not have a password set, but it keeps asking for one.

  47. degreecy said,

    It doesn’t create the network port automatically for me, I have to add EN2 manually. Does anyone know if it should then give it an IP address (rather than 169.xx.x.x).

    Also, even though I upgraded to the build from last night, it still asks me for a password and when I type the correct one in – nothing happens.

    Would be nice to have some screenshots of the adding the port process etc.

  48. Helen White said,

    @Chak, Markrj
    The warning about new driver is not an error, it’s just a notification.
    @Glende, Andreas, Jens24, Chris
    Thanks for reporting, we’ll investigate these issues as soon as possible.
    @Monica, FriedGeek, Arseetoo, Pete
    Unfortunately, we hadn’t tested such devices yet…

    @James in Germany, viga
    Thanks for using our software and detailed information about your devices!
    @uh
    Do you mean there is a misspell in our software? If it’s so, would you be so kind and make a screenshot of the mistake and send it to support@eltima.com , please?

  49. Helen White said,

    Well, guys, comments are closed now. Your comments are welcome here – http://blog.eltima.com/2007/11/syncmate-reported-issues-fixed.html

    @degreecy
    You don’t need to determine IP manually. New version creates port automatically, it is just not represented in the list.
