    Why is it asking for a password? I don’t have one setup. Please advise

  2. Lucas said,

    When I try to download the new version, I’m getting the old one. Weird!

  3. Still doesnt work for me on 10.5 with my T830.
    No Network Device is created.
    When created the network device manually there is still a password request.

  4. Dave said,

    I’m having the same password issue as with the earlier version.

    I may have posted in the wrong spot. No matter what I do I can’t get Syncmate to recognize my Tmobile Dash with WM6. My Macbook is using 10.5.1

  6. miggie said,

    I’m still having connection problems I have a blackberry pearl. I have blackberry show up in the network but snycmate still can’t read it. This is with the new software. By the way thanks Helen for putting a link to this page on digg.

    Wow – quick release! Great work.

    I uninstalled missing sync and installed the new version of syncmate. When I plug in my Tytn II, syncmate starts and warns me that a conflicting driver is installed. It says “another driver will be disabled for a while.” Does that mean I’m good to go? How can I find out what the conflicting driver is?

    Then it asks me for my password. I’m not sure if it wants my admin password or my phone password (my phone doesn’t have a password), so I tried both.

    After that it just sits there and the device never connects. There are no messages on the device.

    I have also tried enabling/disabling advanced USB networking capability in my PPC’s system prefs. It seems this needs to be enabled – can you confirm?

    I do not see any new connection in my network settings on my mac. What should this look like? What is it called? I see a bluetooth activesync connection, but I can’t imagine why that is there.

    Running 10.5.1

    Thanks! Look forward to getting this working…

  8. Mathieu said,

    Thanks for the update!
    I got the problem with the password and ActiveSync request and it is now gone. I managed to synchronize ical and contacts.

    Now I am trying to get applications installed, but dragging cab files doesn’t work (MacOs 10.4.10, the file is shown as dropable on syncmate — with a little green + sign — but get back to its original position without being added to the list).

    Also, it would have been nice to sync different calendars in iCal with different categories in WM, and also to sync the todo stuff of iCal with the Tasks in WM.

    But again, this is already really great stuff! I can’t wait for the next version…

    Please help me!!!

    Otherwise, you are doing a good job. Yours It’s a software that all Windows Mobile \ Apple user are waiting!

    FYI:
    – new version of SyncMate doesn’t create an additional network connection;
    – we are aware of “the password issue” and are working on it, the next build is about to be released soon;
    – if SyncMate doesn’t recognize a mobile device, please, indicate its manufacturer, model, OS and your Mac OS version;
    – new driver warning is OK, it’s just a notification, not an error.

    @Lucas, wp
    Have you tried to download one more time?

    @miggie
    You have BlackBerry Pearl 8100? It has RIM 4.2 OS. This OS isn’t supported by SyncMate.

    @Mathieu, Tim, Rosario
    Thanks for reporting, we’ll investigate it.

    @Phil, Paul
    SyncMate does work with Leopard. Please, wait for the next build or describe the problem in details and email to support@eltima.com

    @Oliver

    Looks like a promising application, however, on my setup (MacBook running Leopard 10.5.1 and a HTC S710 with WM6), no connection can be established. When connecting, I once got the request on my S710 to install a exe and dll file, but other than that, nothing happens. No error, no crash, just no connection.

  43. Daan said,

    Addition to my previous post: after a restart of the HTC S710, I now get to the point where SyncMate is asking for a password. I have tried an empty password, my SIM password, my OS X password and I have tried actually setting a password to lock the S710 and using that password, but the result is the same: the password dialog disappears but still no connection.

    I’m having the same problems with the Samsung i600. Syncmate has a gray “connect” button and I’m not able to sync. When using “Sync” from the “Syncmate” menu in the menubar, I also get the password screen. However, no matter whether I fill something in or press cancel, the log always shows: “Handshake error.” I looking forward to the next build!

  47. Angelo said,

    Ah, now that’s a promising application. Given that it’s still a beta, the few glitches that I came across can be overlooked, and I’m sure will be fixed in future versions. However, if I was to substitute the Missing Sync with SyncMate, one feature is absolutely must have to me (and probably to others). That is, the ability to mount the device as an external drive on my mac.

    My device is an HTC p4350 (herald), while I’m running 10.5.1 on an ibook G4.

    Cheers,

    Nice work. Unfortunately I could make it work with my HTC Touch and Macbook running Leopard 10.5.1

    It didn’t create the network port so I created it manually. Whenever I connect the Touch Syncmate starts then it asks for a password that I don’t have and shows a “Handshake error”.

    I can see in the Preference Panel that the network connection is active but the Connect button in SyncMate remains gray.

    Thank you for the good work. I hope it will became the de facto solution to sync OS X and Windows Mobile devices.

    It looked it was sync’ing. However, when I add a new contact in my Mac’s Addressbook, I did’t see the new entry in my X500.

  69. maximus said,

    Hi,

    I am a MAC and WinMo user and am interested in SyncMate. I am looking for alternatives to Missing Sync which until today, couldn’t find one. I am using MBP MAC OS X Leopard with all the updates & HTC Kaiser WM6 CE OS 5.2.1620 Build 18125.0.4.2 No ROM updates whatsoever.

    Using Syncmate downloaded from eltima website 11/30/07. Tried it out and would like to ask/comment:
    1. Syncmate looks ok. I think better than Missing Sync in the design. Much simpler.
    2. Application Install doesn’t work. I tried dragging some cab files but it just won’t get added to the list. What I do like is that Syncmate can detect the apps I have installed. How about letting us uninstall from SyncMate?
    3. Syncmate Installation -> Need to restart my mobile device. I think you could add this to your troubleshooting guide to help new users. I couldn’t get Syncmate to detect my HTC Kaiser, so I restarted my phone and it worked.
    4. Syncmate lets my device “sleep” when idle, I think you could work this to just let it be “on” until users manually turn them off (ala Missing Sync) or that SyncMate can wake?
    5. Device Info is great (esp when you can click on the pie chart and see how much each filetype takes up on my device/storage card). However I am not sure if space details is accurate. I have a lot of videos loaded in my external storage and its just 1.06MB? Do you guys check folders or filetypes? I have a subfolder in the My Videos having ~36MB and it wasn’t detected.
    6. SMS Manager: Not all my SMS are retrieved. I am not sure what could be the issue but when I did a count it breaks down to:
    Inbox = 46
    Deleted = 3
    Sent = 51
    what I can say is that there must be a 100 message limit (maybe bec its beta?)
    In addition, Sent Items message “Destination” Column shows my number! Of course the sent items comes from me but I think having the recepients name/number would be more apt.
    7. Bookmark – I would like to add that not all Mac users use Safari as their browser including myself. I prefer Firefox. Though this is a + that Missing Sync doesn’t support as of today, this would be great if Syncmate does. That’s why I didn’t use Bookmark Sync.
    8. Mounting as External Drive -> This is one thing that Missing Sync does that I really like! Though there are some problems with it from time to time.
    9. I don’t use iCal, iPhoto nor iTunes sync even with Missing Sync so not much comment about it.

    Thank you for supporting the Mac + WM users with SyncMate!

    I will be looking forward to future builds. Hopefully this will remain freeware, but if not, I do hope it won’t cost as much as Missing Sync.

    HI everybody!

    I tried SyncMate yesterday for the first time. It looked really promising, since Missing Sync doesn’t fully work on leopard ;)

    Installed on Leopard 10.5.1, rebooted (grrr, I hate it, when Software forces you to reboot), plugged my German O2 XDA Neo with WM5 in and was asked for my device password.

    So far, so good. I configured iCal and Adressbook to overwrite my XDA and was asked to install two programs on my XDA. The Connection was established, I could read out the hole file system (for iTunes sync).

    But after hitting connect and synch, my iCal and Adressbook refuse to work. Yesterday I got some strange Errors about slow synching and Communication Problems. Today I tried uninstalling the Missing Sync Part von my XDA an reconnected to SyncMate, but now it doesn’t even say an error:

    Getting the sync client…
    Successfully saved file.

    BEGIN SYNCING…
    Successfully saved file.
    Successfully saved file.
    Event ’syncPrepare’ for plugin: iCal
    Beginning a sync session…
    Event ’syncPrepare’ for plugin: iCal!

    The connection looks good on the XDA, a small red icon on today screen plus active sync logo in top bar.

    Thats all. Ah and I cannot reload my file tree in itunes Plugin. It disconnects the XDA in SyncMate immediately.

    Is there a possibility to uninstall the Windows Mobile Part of your Software? I didn’t find an uninstaller.

    Keep on working! I would really like to see another good solution to missing sync :)

    Hey everyone, just thought I’d stick a wee comment in to help out. After much trial and error, I’ve managed to get SyncMate (running on 10.5.1) to recognise my WM6 HTC Touch. When prompted to enter a password, simply enter 0000. And that’s it. Seriously, it’s working rather nicely now. :-D
    All the best.

    … or so I thought. It appears, however, that nothing is actually syncing with my phone. The action log states (after successfully connecting and attempting to sync) that there has been a ping errror, and a disconnect has been detected. My phone remains powered on and connected, but SyncMate appears to lose its connection.

  81. Marc K said,

    I have a Tytn WM6 phone and running OS X Leopard. Everything seems to work except for synchronizing to iCal. Sadly, there is no way of copying the log, otherwhise I would have included the complete log. Is the latest log kept somewhere on disk?

  82. Gray said,

    Couple more things I’ve noticed. I know, I know; you’re gonna be getting pretty sick of this. There’s no other way to report bugs, though, as far as I can ascertain. Anyways:
    Attempt to transfer and convert iTunes video causes loss of connection. iTunes music transfer is exceptionally slow for a USB 2.0 pairing (took about half an hour to transfer 18 songs). iCal sync causes loss of connection between devices, too.
    Still, I hear it’s better than Missing Sync. ;-) Keep up the good work, folks.

    Lucky me – no problems syncing AT&T Tilt with WM6 connected to Macbook Pro/Leopard.

    Would be awesome to figure a way to sync multiple iCal calendars. Also, contacts with multiple numbers are an issue. Probably because the Mac address book is more flexible than the WM6 version.

    Great job – thanks!

    This could be a killerapp.
    I have some troubles with iCal when I use “Entire Day” appointments.
    Seems that SyncMate is misunderstanding them and I have repeated appointments through all the month with the same title of the first “entire day” I used.
    I’m using a ETEN-M600+ wint WM5.
    Seems also that Syncmate is running better the first time I connect my pda, then I have to delete the settings’ folder on my account/Library/Appl…

    Hope this helps

    Hi!

    Looking forward to get this to work. I have a HTC Mteor and get all the above problems. I have tried to use all zero’s in the password prompt. It’s not succesful. I get this in my log:

    ———–
    BEGIN SYNCING…
    Successfully saved file.
    Handshake error.

    Can’t connect to Pocket

    END SYNCING
    —————————

    But it seems to connect alright when I connect my Mteor to my Mac since it automatically opens up SyncMate.

    Kind regards
    Michael

    I have to say you make this very difficult but I appreciate the effort. What I mean by difficult is there is no version numbers for downloads so supposedly we are to guess which is most current on our computer because when it has been downloaded there is no way to tell which is which.
