Thanks for the advice on the last version. I now have this working on a PPC-6700 running WM5, and a MacBook with 10.4.11. Sweet!

Is there any way to disable the icon it places in the system tray? I use PCM regedit to remove the usual icons there, and I'd prefer to keep that part of the screen clear.

    Thank you!

    Hi!

I'm striking out hard with the following configuration:
    HTC Touch Bell Mobility (Canada)
Windows Mobile 6 Professional (Build 18125.0.4.2)

    Connecting to:
MacBook 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo
    OSX v10.4.11 (Tiger)

    Here's what I did:
    - Stopped Firewall
    - Ran Uninstaller/Restarted OSX
    - Downloaded Latest Version (dated Feb 15/08)
    - Ran Installer/Restarted OSX
    - Connected USB
    - Ran SyncMate

Here's what I get in the log:
    BackService version: 0.4.1d5
    USB driver version: 0.2.3b2

    Nothing else.

I can get the "connection" logo at the top left corner to change from grey to white when I unplug and reconnect the USB cable to my phone while SyncMate is running. It never changes to the USB logo as depicted in the splash screen.

If I try to select anything from the pulldown menus, the software crashes/hangs.

I've also sent a copy of this message to "beta@eltima.com" - the same address that has yet to yield a reply to any of my last 3 messages.

Any ideas? I'd love to see this work.

    Cheers!

    Craig.

  6. Hello,
still no luck with an HTC P4350, WM5, iMac24'', Leopard latest update, no firewall etc etc.
    log:

    -----
    BackService version: 0.4.1d5
    USB driver version: 0.2.3b2
    ----

    and then stops there. BUT:
now, in preferences/network I see a Windows Mobile Device connection established, using DHCP, going up and down when I resume/standby the phone. I got an IP (169.254.2.2), but after 30 secs I get on the phone a dialog saying "cannot get a server assigned IP. Please retry later or set an IP using network settings" (I translated from Italian version). When getting the IP, SyncMate starts/goes on foreground. I don't see any "event 'disconnected'" in the log, as it was for previous version.

    Thanks or your efforts, truly.

    Hello Vic,

with the new version I was able to sync my device, which is a O2 XDA mini S:

    USB driver version: 0.2.3b2
    Device platform PocketPC

    Device OS Version 5.1
    Device ModelName WIZA200

    BEGIN SYNCING...
    ...

    END SYNCING

But I have one small issue, an appointment which occurs every 2nd week on sundays showed up in iCal every week. So I deleted the appointment and created it again out of iCal and synced again to my device and it works now fine so this seems to be an issue with my device and outlook on a windows pc not with SyncMate! So I switched from Mobile to Mac sync to Mac Mobile sync and all behaves as desired, even my bookmarks, file folder and so on works - Great Job! Many thanks!
It was a hard way for all of us.... :-)

Ooops it seams that my firsts posts are gone ?!?

OK I will try to summarize my first long, boring and badly wrote post, I did this night.

First of all my SPV C600 with WM5 and my HTC P3600 Trinity work fine, and are fully supported by SyncMate (v1.1 RC)

    I notice some bugs:

    On iCal plugin
    --------------
There is some bugs synchronizing events.
It seams to be due to a bug of date conversion (My both mobile device are in French) independently on start or end date of the events.
Some strange behaviors occurred when I'm updating events from Mac so as to correct bugs ... next synchronization in next synchronization the situation is getting worse !
I suspect also that SyncMate has some difficulties to manage events which have start and end date equals.

Those bugs occurred on the both mobile device ... so it can not be due to device ! But I'm pretty sure that it is due to French version of WM.

    On Folders/iPhotos plugin
    -------------------------
When synchronizing a folder which is directly in device memory (not on SD card) the files are unreadable on Mac side (viewed as corrupted)
Maybe it's a functionality that is plan to be implemented !

    Littles bugs on interface
    -------------------------
    * Enable to stop iTunes synchronization during process (the 'Stop' button action as no impact, I had to quit SyncMate)
    * Enable to resynchronize after an error
    Step to reproduce:
    - Synchronize (it must have impacts on more than 5% of your items - As I'm here I just what to add that when a popup saying that more than 5% of change will be done there is no way to know if it will impact the device or the computer ?)
    - Cancel the synchronization (you do not want that the synchronization process delete your entire calendar events - It was my case)
    - Notice that synchronization on plug in is flagged with a red icon.
    - Than (in may case) backup your data
    - Than re synchronize !
    - You can notice that SyncMate does nothing !

For support team: I sent you my first post by mail I hope that I forget nothing in this one ! There is also (in my mail) my logs for validating that my two devices are supported by SyncMate.

Thanks for this new release, I'm ready to help you testing French version of WM.

    @Lee -
Thank you for your full log and important observations.

    @craig -
Please, delete old SyncMate's driver from your device manually. Then reboot it and connect to Mac.

    @Thomas Ricker -
Please, deinstall old SyncMate's driver from your device, reboot your device and start a new synchronization session.

    @Joerg Knoerchen -
We are very glad that SyncMate finally worked for you! Don't hesitate to contact our support department if you ever need help with one of our applications.

    @Will P -
There is an issue with some servers and that's why you cannot download the correct dmg. Please, let me know your e-mail address, and I will send the correct SyncMate dmg to you.

    @Babele Dunnit -
First of all you have to check in a device manager whether your device has appeared. In such a way you will check if you Maс finds the device. If you can find it there, then try to uninstall such apps as Skype client and Navigon 6 and reboot your device. Then try to connect it to your Mac again. According to your log it seems that device doesn't appeat in you device manager at all, like the cable doesn't work.

  11. Hi Vic,
probably I was not clear enough: when I write "in preferences/network I see a Windows Mobile Device connection established, using DHCP, going up and down when I resume/standby the phone. I got an IP..." etc etc, I mean that on my COMPUTER, in the OsX "control panel" I see that stuff... I presume that, if an IP is assigned, and if it goes up and down in that way, the device was found and the cable is working... which, BTW, is the same standard 4-pin USB cable I use for many other peripherals (HTC use standard mini-USB cables). Anyway, I will double-check with a device manager, and will try to get rid of third-party apps.

    Thx, later
    Bab

Please, delete old SyncMate's driver from your device manually. Then reboot it and connect to Mac. Please, note my next comment to know where to find this old driver.

    @craig -
If you cannot find it in the list of installed programs, then you have to check /Windows folder and look for as_starter.exe and AsyncSvr.dll. If you can find these files, you should remove them.

  15. Adam said,

Thanks Vic. i tried what you asked several times, uninstalled the driver, and looked for the files in the Windows folder. Still the same problem: I can connect to my device, but every time I try to synch i get the same message:

    Event 'syncRefresh' for plugin: Contacts
    Event 'syncRefresh' for plugin: iCal
    Beginning a sync session...

    END SYNCING

  16. craig said,

    Hi Vic,

It isn't in the list of installed programs, nor are those two files in the /Windows subdirectory. I wonder if this could be the key to the problem...

Also, no matter where I've looked, I can't find any description of any firewall on the HTC Touch.

I'd love to see this work! Between the two of us, we've invested a lot of time trying to make this program fly.

    Cheers!

    Craig.

  17. Vic said,

    @Adam -
According to your log, the synchronization stops at the point where a window appears, asking you whether you agree to contacts or iCal events to be added. You have to make a choice, the synchronization will not continue until you make a decision. You might not see that window or you press Cancel by mistake.

    @craig -
Does SyncMate start automatically? You see, after you connect your device to your Mac, SyncMate should start automatically, then send its driver to the device (in case the firewall doesn't block the connection). After that the connection will be set up. If SyncMate doesn't start automatically, then you probably have some problems with your hardware.

  18. Adam said,

It seems to be a problem with the plugins. The SMS reader and Device info tabs work well when I press the refresh buttons on those pages. I still have problems however with the iCal and Contacts plugins. There's no window that appears asking me to agree. When I press Sync Now, it times out in less than a second...I've tried quiting iCal and Address book, but this doesn't help

  19. As the problem for a lot of us is that the drivers does not get downloaded to the mobile for some reason (which is NOT matter of firewalls or cables), why don't you make those two files as_starter.exe and AsyncSvr.dll available to us so that we can put them in the /windows directory of our phones by ourselves? So we can go on with the debugging of the app itself, while you figure out why in some cases those files are not downloaded...

Still problems in syncing my HTC Kaiser with my iMac late 2006 10.5.2.
iCal synchronisation does not work. Date notation seems different, syncmate says 2008-02-21 , my device 21-20-2008 . iMac standard settings for The Netherlands ; Kaiser: short date notation 21-2-2008; long: donderdag 21 februari 2008.
What is wrong , no one does recognise this , what can I do ?

Syncmate running on an iBook (PPC) running Tiger, 10.4.11, syncing with HTC_S710 (Windows Mobile 6 Standard): the HTC S710 is listed as a supported device, but I still have a few problems.

I'm still having problems syncing contacts - when I allow two-way syncing, I end up with around 90 of over 240 contacts with an email or phone number listed twice (under both home and work for example). I tried backing up my contacts on my Mac and then deleting them all in order to try and delete all the contacts on my device, but this doesn't work! On WM6 standard, I can't seem to delete all my contacts easily in order to try and find a solution.

I'm also having problems syncing Stickie-notes - I have 9, and I have never been able to get them all onto the device. I have tried deleting a few, changing them, checking that the fonts are all the same etc., but I can't work out why they don't sync correctly. I reduced them to 5, and I ended up with the same note twice on my device and one note missing. Reduced to 3, 2, 1 and I just can't get it to work at all. Also, if a note is open on the device, and two-way syncing is activated, and a sync is performed, it is deleted from Stickies on the Mac ...

One other minor issue with iPhoto syncing does not delete photos from the device which have been removed from the Album in iPhoto - they need to be deleted manually from the device. Otherwise, it works well, including resizing of photos.

And Folder syncing won't sync empty folders ...

I still haven't thoroughly tested iCal syncing, but everything else works well. I hope this feedback is of some help ...

    Thanks

Install (replacing older version) worked very well, although if a restart is necessary on the PDA (I always do anyway) it should perhaps be part of the installer.

While not for everyone, one option which might be of use is the choice to enable sync automatically when the PDA is connected, rather than having to click on sync now.

Now the various plugins - iCal and contacts seem the most buggy so far for me:

    Bookmarks

    * Option to sync bookmarks with more than Safari: Firefox, Opera?

    iCal

    * non-US date format ignored when events synced from Mac to PDA - month and day switched if pda format is dd/mm/yyyy. (Resolved if date format is changed on PDA but that's not how it should work)
    * event recurrence not synced from mac to PDA

    Notes

    * notes copied to PDA do not use first line of note as the title as normal, and instead are named Note1, Note2 etc.
    * perhaps Syncmate should quit stickies for you rather than complain when it is still running? not a big problem...

    Contacts

    * Contacts listed in first name last name format in Address book appear on the PDA in last name, first name format whatever the settings on the mac.

    iTunes

    * A stop button is needed, as if a mistake is made, adding folders can take a very long time
    * Perhaps also needs a progress indicator of some sort when adding folders

    Folders

    * Option to edit added folder's options - change direction of sync especially

Hope this helps - please keep up the great work

    ibook Tiger & HTC S710:
I tried @Mounir's suggestion of clicking on the syncmate driver icon and changing the wifi preferences for the driver to 'allow all', and now I can sync via wifi! (after establishing an 'ad hoc' connection between the computer and phone). The sync speed via usb is a bit slow, especially for iTunes syncing which for me is around 130 KB/sec maximum, but over wifi I reach speeds of over 400 KB/sec, which is great! I couldn't install CAB files using wifi, but perhaps this is a USB function only.

I've kept trying to get contacts syncing correctly. By trying to reset my contacts on the device I've now managed to get it working a bit better - my log indicates 'Change 91 contacts from MAC' on every single sync, but at least the error in syncing - whatever it is - is no longer affecting the address book on my Mac. Other than this anomaly in the log, contact syncing seems to be working reliably now.

    Thanks.

  34. paobeleeso said,

The HTCS710 was listed as a supported device during the RC releases, but I never got it working perfectly on my Tiger machine:

    - my log indicates 'Change 91 contacts from MAC' on every single sync of contacts, - I cannot get Stickies syncing at all
    - a further problem not listed in my blog entries is folder syncing 'Application Data/Home' on the device does not work (making it impossible to change the home screen using syncmate).

I can sync via wi-fi without disabling the firewall, but on my most recent attempt I could not do it over a secure ad-hoc connection.

In general, it's true, syncing is possible, but I still wish to list the firewall as an issue, as I'm sure that with an earlier beta version it was possible to sync via USB without disactivating the firewall. Since at least the Release Candidate version, the firewall has to be switched off to sync - it works, but it is a bit impractical (no surfing while syncing!).

I hope that my feedback has been of some help - I will try the new version to see if these issues have been fixed. Thanks.

When I setup for mobile to mac, result is an empty ical, so not imported events. At first it signals that 403 events will be added via isync, but after add to agenda, this is the log.

    What's going wrong?

    IT WORKS!!
after weeks of trouble i've finally figured it out! it seems that you have to check the "Enable syncing on this computer" option in iSync, which then gives access to your address book and calendar to SyncMate. Try it!

In which way have you downloaded the build? Have you used Safari in order to download? If no, please download the build once again, but using Safari. If you still cannot obtain the build, we will e-mail it to you.

I just love this program! I've used Missing Sync and some other software before, giving me nothing but headache. I either lost data of got everything duplicated in the end. Sync services constantly crashing or losing the connection. I've always used illegal hacked versions of other programs because I didn't want to pay for buggy trash that kept me searching for solutions to new problems for hours and hours.

SyncMate worked right "out of the box". After playing with it for about 30 minutes I ordered the Expert Edition right away without even bothering to search for hacked or cracked version. This program is so totally worth it's money, keep up the good work please!

Oh, BTW, I found a solution for the "Error 2" problem I also ran into. I had to delete the Missing Sync software that was still on my phone to get the SyncMate driver running without any problem. Hope this is the cause/solution for the other people in here too.

I've certainly ran into some bugs with the program, but in general I think its great. The latest bug i have is syncing iCal with my WM6 calendar. It says it has 'sync' ok, but a new event i've created on my device won't show up in iCal. Yet it must be in iCal because if I sync from Mac back to the device, it shows up?!

Also....has anyone had success with internet sharing?? I don't get the syncmate prompt saying 'internet has been successfully shared' unless wifi is turned on on my device. if I turn wifi off i cannot connect....ie. it is not sharing my Mac's internet connection. I have not probs with internet sharing using ActiveSync on Windows.....infact it automatically disables wifi on my device.

Any settings required with respect to Mac internet sharing or firewall settings? I've tried turning on internet sharing on my mac to the appropriate ethernet adapter....but that doesn't seem to help. Any help??

Syncmate works well with my Ipaq HX2490 but doesn't on my HTC P3600 (SIM unlocked).
Both of them are runing under WM5.

When connecting the HTC, the device is returning the following error message : "Can't start the driver, error 2"

    Here's the log file:
    BackService version: 0.4.1d9
    USB driver version: 0.2.3b5
    Device platform PocketPC
    Device CpuType 2577
    Device Version 30474501
    Device OS Version 5.1
    Device ModelName TRIN100
    Driver found. Starting...
    Cant connect to Pocket

    Thanks for your feedback.

Please, try launching One Tier Prompt. In order to find OneTierPrompt, please follow these steps:

    for Pocket PCs:
    Start-Programs-Accessories-OneTierPrompt.

    for Smartphones:
    Start-Advanced-OneTierPrompt.

You have to run it, and if it runs, our driver will start. If it doesn't, please try using SDA Application Unlock software to unlock your device. Then, if your device will ask whether to start and unknown driver, you have to press "Yes" every time been asked.

If this will not help, it means that your device is locked on a higher level, by your cellular service provider.

Hmm, running OneTierPrompt on a TOTALLY unlocked phone (I've got gobs of 3rd party apps) doesn't work. Smartphone 2005 on a Tmobile SDA. It throws a text message:

    System Notification
    Change of Device Settings Unsuccessful
Installation of OneTierPrompt.cpf was unsuccessful. the program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions.

Umm, can I do something to affect that? Does this have ANYTHING to do with the fact that I have a key lock on the phone?

  54. West said,

I cannot install SDA Application Unlock software on my Motorola Q smartphone (WM5). It says it's not a windows CE application. Furthermore, I tried following the path for OneTierPrompt on my smartphone and it does not exist. Please advise.

It is my first time to try SyncMate for my Sprint Touch. When I plug -in USB, nothing happened. On Touch screen it just show charging icon. SyncMate show no connection. On same iMac, I run WinXP by VMWare Fusion, ActiveSync never has problem to see the connection. It seems SyncMate just can not recognize it.
