Personal Background: Roland Chiu is an Assistant Professor of Toxicology at the University of Maastricht. Founded in 1976, it is the second youngest university in the Netherlands, and consistently ranks among the top universities in The Netherlands in terms of education.

Victoria Veligodsky: What challenges made you search for this kind of software?

Roland Chiu: I have a Windows Mobile 6 device which I previously synced with my Windows XP computer. I recently switched to a MacBook Pro and still wanted to use my calendar and list contacts. Though I didn’t realize Activesync doesn’t work on a Mac! Thought I’d have to buy a new phone/PDA.

Victoria Veligodsky: How did get to know about SyncMate by Eltima Software?

Roland Chiu: So when I got my new MacBook Pro and realized that my PDA won’t sync anymore. I search online for Windows Mobile to Mac syncing applications.

I came across several applications. Most of them were pay ones. However, I quickly found SyncMate and surprisingly, it was free of charge.

Victoria Veligodsky: Did you try other products for the same task before choosing Eltima solution? Why did you prefer our product?

Roland Chiu: I tried out several applications that I found online. I had the trial versions of your competitors. OHHHH what a disaster! Not only did they not work, but they were terrible to remove! And absolutely not user-friendly! However, your SyncMate was terrific! It was fairly easy to install and was quite user-friendly, though I am new to Mac.

Victoria Veligodsky: Please, describe how you are using our product now.

Roland Chiu: I am currently using SyncMate to synchronize my calendar and contacts on my MacBook Pro using Entourage. Unfortunately this wasn’t an easy task as you need to sync via iCal and the Mac address book. But now I can enter new agenda points on my server and have it show up on my PDA.

Victoria Veligodsky: How did you benefit from using SyncMate solution?

Roland Chiu: Maybe it’s because I’m new to a Mac, but this entire process hasn’t been particularly easy. Luckily, the help support at Eltima were very useful. Two correspondences with them and I was up and running. Thank you guys for such a great product and outstanding service!
