New SyncMate at Your Service

Heads up to all SyncMate users! We have totally re-worked the structure of this synchronization tool. The interface is still the same, so you won’t notice any visible differences. The essence of the changes is inside of the application. Yes, the device part of SyncMate is no longer a driver, it is and application. This means that you will not have to unlock your device in order to start using SyncMate.

Plus:
- Fixed: SyncMate crash when iCal plugin is operating

- Fixed: bug with iCal plugin operation with Google Calendar

- Fixed: bug with message plugins operation with Windows Mobile 6.1 devices

Go ahead! Download new SyncMate right now!

Thank you very much for your tests. As always, they prove to be very useful to us. Could you please let us know, how did you put messaging cache to the memory card? Please, let us also know why bookmark synchronization failed? What have you created, where, how did you try to sync them?

Messaging Cache - I've MemMaid installed and one of the features lets me choose where application cache is for my device. So maybe its a special case. I confirmed this since I removed the option, restarted my omnia and wham, sms are there.

Bookmark Synchronization - this part is a bit fuzzy. In firefox, I have bookmarks organized under folder under the bookmarks menu. When I synced my omnia (mac -> mobile device, checked sync with firefox), only the default mozilla firefox was synced as well as the default bookmarks from safari to PIE. **PIE is outdated ;-)**

You should update your linke to the new version and not 1.3 as it is now. I have no wasted my time rebooting...thanks...

Ok. I just hard reset my TyTN II and finished installing some apps. Now, I usually use folder sync via USB since I sync 2 main folders to my TyTN II's MicroSD storage card, 1 for App Installers (for those just in case moments I need to hard reset my device due to some uninstallable programs and my MBP isn't with me) and a backup folder for My Documents.

So I decided to test out the Wi-Fi connection. I remember testing this out prior to final release and I had noticed that setting the connection as 'Only from List' didn't work, you have to 'Allow All'. Well I tried it out and its working, and running right now. Initial sync was shortened. I am not sure but SM just closed. It could be because I had set the power settings on my TyTN to power off device after 1 min of inactivity. Around 104MB completed in around 10mins.

    So 2 comments:
Is there a way for SyncMate Driver to "tell" the WM device to just ignore the power options and not to shut off since it's synching?

Also, since I use folder sync a lot and would like to set sync folders from time to time, is there a way to improve the GUI for folder sync where I can retain the sync folders, but only those checked will be synced at that time so I won't have to delete and re-add folders during future sync ups? This isn't gravely important but would be nice.

I think SyncMate is getting better and better so kudos to you guys!

WHen I sync to my phone, all my contacts got sorted by Last Name, First name.

I had to manually change each to First/Last.

This is related to the "File as" field that exists in WM and MS Outlook. I think that would be great to have an option in Syncmate preferences to select the "File As" behaviour between "First, Last" or "Last, First".

  6. Vic said,

    @ Carlos Eduardo -
Thank you for your feature request. We will surely implement this useful feature in the next release of SyncMate.

  7. Carlos Eduardo said,

    @Vic
Thanks for the addition of the "File as" setting in the latest SyncMate, one issue though, When one selects the "Before last name" setting, to display first name first, SyncMate adds a comma between the first and the last name. I dont think this is deserved because this comma is usually added in the "Last, First" method, when using "First Last" no comma is needed.

    Thanks a lot
    Carlos

This totally didn't survive the Daylight Savings time update and duplicated my entire calendar, dug out old to-dos that were already completed, and reset their completed dates. What an awful flaw. You ruined my day.

    Hello
please - I desperately need help. Do you know if the newest version of SincMate supports syncing with the HTC Touch HD device (Windows mobile 6.1)? When connecting the device with my computer, nothing happens - the device doesn't get recognized by my Mac (OS 10.4), I cannot sync anything.

Do you know anything I could do? Or another way to sync the calendar and contacts?

Thank you very much for your appreciated feedback
    Alain

I have the very latest version of SyncMate and after I got it working with my phone I love it!

One thing, however: I know the "mount disk" feature is still in beta, but is there a reason I can't see all the files in my /Windows folder? That's the only folder, it seems, whose contents aren't showing up...

    Thank you!

  13. Vic said,

    @ Pluma -
The files that are not showing are probably system files, and this is how Windows Mobile shows the information about files and folders. Please, make sure that the contents of other, non-system folders, show up fine.

  14. Pluma said,

Yes, all the other folders and their contents do show up.

It's a shame that I can't see any of the files in the /Windows folder, though, as I would like to wipe a lot of the stock wares off to save a little space. Hmm.

    Problems:
Only connects when firewall is disabled - or is there a fix?
Sync with iCal is still duplicating some existing events on PPC when syncing Mac -> PPC

    no

  16. Vic said,

    @ Al-
In order to overcome the problem with the firewall, please provide access to the following IP address: 169.254.2.1and check SyncMate's manual for more details. As for duplicating events in iCal, we need more details from you:

    1) what are your regional settings?

    2) please check the time zone on Mac and on the phone and inform us as detailed as possible;

    3) please send a screenshot of synchronization settings for iCal plugin to our support team support@eltima.com;

    4) Send us SyncMate Action log during sync in iCal plugin(To find SyncMate Action log please follow: Plugins -> Other Plugins -> Action log)

    5) it would be great to have your iCal backup.

  17. Al said,

    Vic

Firewall - instructions in the Syncmate manual refer to the firewall setup in Tiger - I'm running Leopard which does not have such precise controls

iCal - regional settings are UK GMT (mac) / English UK (ppc).

it's odd that only some events were being duplicated - i've cleared my iCal calendar (by syncing from ppc -> mac) and then resyncing mac ppc and it is now fine - no duplicates appearing. weird. i will try to reproduce and i can, let you have the files involved.

Hello, I have problem with my HTC touch HD ( windows mobile 6.1):

    please help

  19. Vic said,

    @ vlada -
Please note that the first connection should be established via USB in order to install SyncMate driver on the mobile device. Normally SyncMate driver installation will pop up on your mobile device as soon as you attach it to your Mac. If it doesn't happen please check the following:

    1) One of the possible reasons for connection failure is that Mac firewall blocks the connection or PDA firewall blocks driver installation. On Mac, try this: System Preferences -> Security/Sharing (Internet and Network)-> Firewall -> Allow All Incoming Connections.
I understand that setting your firewall to Allow all incoming connections is scary, but the fact is (confirmed by our testers and multiple clients reports) that Mac firewall's behavior is somewhat strange.

Still, you can try to temporary allow all connections to make sure that the problem is caused by the firewall.

    2) If you are using Windows Mobile 6, we recommend to enable "Advanced network functionality". To do this, on your device go to: Start -> Settings -> Connections -> USB to PC.

    3) Please, switch your mobile to a device mode. As you perhaps know the mobile phone can be detected by Mac in two modes: as a drive with folders or as a device (available for syncing). The mode which is to be enabled is called RNDIS or Active Sync Mode (differs depending on the device model).

    4) Start > Program > Activ Sync > Menu > Connections > check box "Sync all PCs using this connection" > drop down list USB

    5) Please follow System Preferences -> Sharing -> Internet Sharing. If "USB Ethernet (en1)" or "Win mobile device" option is enabled please uncheck it. Then restart your Mac.

    6) Perhaps the access to your mobile device is password protected. Please check it. If the problem persists please send us SyncMate Action log for investigation.
To find SyncMate Action log please follow: Plugins -> Other Plugins -> Action log

    BEGIN SYNCING...
    Beginning a sync session...
Timed out trying to create a Sync Session

    END SYNCING

note.. i have firewall on mac disabled, and advanced networking enabled via usb on the phone. i'm using WM6.1.

I'm switching to Mac, and have an HP iPaq I've been using for years on my PC with ActiveSync and Outlook. I've been desperately trying to find a way to sync my calendar and contacts, and found your software. Looked like just the thing, so I downloaded it and installed the free version. I plugged in the sync cord to the USB port on my MacBook and....nothing. It seems to simply not see it at all...the "connect" and "mount disk" buttons are greyed out. I have been reading all of your help files and message posts and nothing I've found seems to solve the problem. I just sync-ed it to my PC, so I know that it's not a problem with the handheld. I've turned off the firewall on Leopard, tried setting up iSync, but still nothing. My device runs Pocket PC Version 4.20.0 (Build 14053). The SyncMate log says "Can't open input server /Library/InputManagers/" Thanks very much for your help...I really would like to see this work!!

  27. Vic said,

Unfortunately, SyncMate does not support Pocket PC Version 4.20.0. We support Windows Mobile Pocket PC 2005/2006.

    Hello,
there is a problem if a stickie contains a €(Euro) Sign it crashes the syncing and produces a Ä (A Desires) - Would be great if you could fix that so that the version works - And it would be Great if the Notes would not be synced back to the Stickies rather to the Notes in Mac OS Mail. Is that possible? Thanks alot you did a great software

  29. Vic said,

@ the stickie euro problem -
In the next SyncMate version Notes will be synced with notes on Mac OS Mail. We will investigate the issue with the Euro sign. Are you using the latest SyncMate build?

  30. Andrew Tillinghast said,

Recent problem with syncmate, when I try the sync at work I get an error "Can not connect to google.com" but I can connect fine from the same Mac via Safari and Firefox.

It seems to work correctly when I do the sync on the same laptop while at home (at least it did last time I tried it)

  31. Vic said,

    @ Andrew Tillinghast
    1. please check your login and password
    2. maybe firewall is blocking the connection. Please follow:
System Preferences -> Security/Sharing (Internet and Network) -> Firewall -> Allow All Incoming Connections.
