Let us Present to you FOLX – a Totally New Downloader for Mac

Meet our totally new software product!
Folx (beta) is the internet download manager that helps you download any file via HTTP, HTTPS, FTP directly or via proxy in just several clicks and at maximum speed possible.

From now on you can download not only separate files, but the whole folders with all the contents via FTP.

Folx is very easy to use and has numerous handy features:

- Resume broken downloads (the part you have already downloaded stays safe and sound)

- Limit the download speed

- Split downloads into multiple threads

- Download via any browser

- Add different tags to downloaded files and search for them via Spotlight

- Stop, pause and restart your downloads

- Keep track of all your download processes, errors and other information with detailed download log

Using Folx, you will actually see, how your downloads are doing. A vivid progress bar will show you, how fast your download is going and how long it will take to make your file ready.

And yes, Folx is absolutely free to use!
So download it, test it and don’t forget that it’s a beta version :)

downloaded folx and was impressed by it. forgot to test how much resources it consumed as compared to sd but will try it in the next couple of days.

    bug report:
i tried to download from my exchange server and folx couldn’t download the file even when i edited the download info to include the user and password.

    suggestions for final version:
remove the confirmation for each download maybe have it set in preferences.

    overall great product!

Love the app, would love if there would be a way to “use more links at once to download”:)

i’m downloading some files from rapidshare, and it would be great if didnt need to “copy” &”paste” every link .. after link..

    but, i love it :p

can’t wait to try it!… does it support stuff like megaupload? anyway, thanks for such an app :-) been looking for a good dl manager for os x for a while :-)!

    a few suggestions

    1. ability to upload to rapidshare

    2. being able to set an upload and download limit would be nice

    3. also ability to copy and post serveral links as one rather then doing them one after the other

  11. Mike said,

I have had problems with Folx.
1 – The download reaches 100% and continues downloading for a while afterwards. I assume that it is a rounding problem (especially with large files). It is probably rounding the number up instead of down.
2 – A more serious problem is that the downloaded file is corrupt somehow. I have successfully downloaded a couple of files but the last two downloads (both dmg) have not been able to mount and the error is codec overrun.

    很喜欢这个下载工具,不过有时候下载到 100% 时却不能下完,这点有待改善。

    另外期待支持 BT 和 eMule 协议。

    鼓励一下,这个工具真的很好用。加油!

Its a real shame you can’t add multiple links at once like in SD, or am I missing something?? Anyways nice product.

  14. Vic said,

    @ Everyone –
Thank you very much for your feature requests, we sincerely appreciate your comments and ideas. The feature of adding multiple links and uploading files to rapidshare will be added in the next release of Folx. Stay tuned to our updates!

  15. Blunt57 said,

just a small but nice addition also would be the ability to see the current download figure on the folx app when it is in the dock. SD and Transmission do this also.

  16. CHase said,

Hey, Just wanted to say that I love this product. It’s extreme;y easy to use and great for timers ad such. One feature request I do have is to change the range the download speed bars appear in. I have a T1 connection so anything below 500 kb/s is slow for me. Torrent integration looks like its coming soon, but I’m not sure. That would be awesome.

    Thanks, Chase

Well, Folx is a cool app, but as of today it tells me the beta version has expired. It wouldn’t be strange if there was a full-version to buy or another beta to download. But apparently there’s nothing to buy or download…

  18. I can understand that you let the beta versions expire – but it would be nice to be able to download a newer version when the old one expires. Please? ;)

wow, that’s a quick reaction! cheers!

multiple link support would be nice. Meaning i dont have to copy and paste multiple links one at a time. Something similar to JDownloader’s would be how it checks the status of the file on the server and tells you if the file is good to go or is offline

  23. alex.taylor said,

    @ rjw5f -
In fact, Folx supports multiple files download. Just copy & past required links in TextEdit, and then go TextEdit->Services->Download with Folx.

  24. Kevin said,

I needed to download some very large (several hundred megabyte) files from a remote FTP server… and throttle the connection so I didn’t hog all the bandwidth from my co-workers. Folx seemed like a great tool, so I downloaded the latest version. Unfortunately, about half the downloaded files were corrupt. I had to download again using just firefox. Using a binary compare, I found the files downloaded by folx were not identical to those download with firefox. The firefox downloaded files were not corrupt. This would be a great tool if I had more confidence in it.

Kevin, please send us a link on files you’ve tried to download at support@eltima.com in order we could investigate the problem.
