Posted by Alex Taylor on February 11th, 2009
Flash Decompiler by Eltima Software is a feature rich and powerful SWF to FLA converter, which will help you decompile Flash movies, convert SWF elements into multiple formats and edit SWF movies on the go without Flash Studio installed.
And since 4.0 version Flash Decompiler supports Flex files into Flex projects decompilation.
This tutorial contains a detailed step-by-step description of Flex files to Flex projects conversion. But let us remind you some details about Flex files.
Flex files are created by Adobe Flex Builder. Flex files can be converted in Flex projects only and you’ll have to have Adobe Flex Builder installed in order to edit such projects. When converting Flex files into Flex projects with Flash Decompiler, Flash Decompiler will create a Flex Builder project which can be easily edited with Adobe Flex Builder.
So, if you have some Flex files you are about to convert in Flex projects, following tutorial will definitely help you!
Step 1. Please download the latest Flash Decompiler Trillix build and install it.
Step 2. After launching Eltima Flash Decompiler please switch to “Manage” tab. Press “Add task” and choose the Flex file you are about to convert.
For your convenience, while working with a file, you can see whether it is a Flash or Flex file (since 4.0 version Flash Decompiler supports Flex files into Flex projects decompilation). There will be corresponding icons to the left of the file name in “My tasks” list.
Step 3. After you added the required Flex file/files to be converted, please, switch to “Convert tab”, which is located at ribbon bar.
Step 4. Select the destination folder where the resulting Flex projects will be stored.
Step 5. If you want to start converting chosen Flex file to Flex projects with default settings, press “Convert current” button (“Convert all” button in case you’ve selected batch of Flash files).
Step 6. If you want to change conversion settings just switch to “Conversion options” tab. After you’ve managed all the options, please press “Convert current” button (”Convert all” button in case you’ve selected batch of Flex files).
