Working in harmony – solution found!

developer

Programmers are usually very busy and cannot be distracted from work for any reason. To develop a good application they need to concentrate deeply on their work. But is it that easy? The chaos of busy office is very well known: noise of the processors, clicking keyboards, discussions among the colleagues… Getting on to the right track is just so hard sometimes. So what a developer can do in this case?

Our fellow developers were looking hard for a solution. Some of them were trying to listen to a favorite music playlists, some – favorite radio station. But a radio or a playlist gets you bored with the time passing and doesn’t always correspond with your taste. Trying to watch the clips or movies didn’t work either, cause you can’t be in two places at once, even if it’s all in the monitor.

The kitchen became the place for discussions on “how to concentrate on work and ignore the office noises”.
At last came up a decision to listen to the environmental sounds. This idea was well received and approved. After all, the nature sounds make us feel more comfortable than computers’ noise.

A while ago similar software was developed for Windows OS and was installed by almost all programmers at their machines. The similar Mac software also existed. But most of such solutions had a nuance, which I personally consider a disadvantage.

The thing is, in order to dip into a virtual environment you have to adjust it first: select the sounds you need, set the appropriate order for them, etc. Manual adjustment takes really lots of time.

Our programmers were busy trying to find the ideal solution that wouldn’t require so much time to set it appropriately and will really enwrap them in an atmosphere they need for more efficient working process. At last they simply decided to develop their own software that will satisfy all these requirements and will be easy to use and as close to the real environment as possible.

This is how Elsewhere was born. Elsewhere doesn’t require much effort, it has a tiny interface, only the necessary settings, and lots of pleasure!

Screen1

Going back to the development process – that wasn’t easy at all! The sounds are so usual, we don’t even notice them in everyday life, but when you actually start making the selection for the application you realize that some sounds combined with the others can be irritating, or just don’t sound as you want them to.
While developing each sound atmosphere for Elsewhere (currently Beach, Wood, and City) we had lots of discussions and debates. Some sounds triggered so different associations in each of us. But that was definitely worth it, because what came out of it is definitely what we sought for.

So… the advantages of Elsewhere.

elsewhere screen

First of all Elsewhere emits sounds absolutely randomly, no repeats or routine playlists. Even its developers don’t know what sounds they will hear the next moment.
Also we tried to create as realistic atmosphere as possible by organizing day and night sounds naturally. For example you won’t hear the birds’ twitter at midnight, but the owl’s hoot of course. The atmosphere around you changes gradually depending on the time of day.

This app turned out to be not just a small solution for our programmers, but an extremely convenient utility for anyone craving for peace and concentration.

Elsewhere 1.0 released!

Posted by Alex Taylor on May 10th, 2012

Elsewhere

We’ve announced the release of Beta version of Elsewhere less than a month ago and received a highly positive feedback from you. Thanks everyone who suggested new options and sound environments, we appreciate your support!

We’ve polished Beta version and are ready to present Elsewhere 1.0 to you. Please note that Beta version will no longer work.

Elsewhere 1.0 can now be purchased on the Mac App Store at $0.99 only.

For now it offers three sound environments: forest, city, and beach. We are working on introducing more of them in the near future.

Elsewhere can automatically switch between day and night depending on the time on your Mac (sounds will be changed respectively) or you can switch it manually.

The main advantage of Elsewhere is that it contains numerous random sounds, not just a soundtrack, which would repeat again and again:)

Elsewhere: being in two places at once is now possible!

Posted by Alex Taylor on April 13th, 2012

How many times, sitting in the office or at home, you’ve noticed that surrounding sounds distract your attention and don’t let you concentrate? Wish you were somewhere else, on the beach or in the forest and enjoyed sounds of wind and birds?

We can’t physically deliver you to the beach or make your noisy colleagues disappear, but what we can do for sure is bring serenity into your fussy days with Elsewhere.

Elsewhere

Elsewhere is a tiny sound app that provides you with the sounds of the beach, forest, and city. For now it offers three sound environments only, but we are working on introducing more of them. So all you need to do is launch it and enjoy random sounds of nature or city.

Elsewhere can automatically switch between day and night depending on the time on your Mac (sounds will be changed respectively) or you can switch it manually.

The main advantage of Elsewhere is that it contains numerous random sounds, not just a soundtrack, which repeats again and again:)

Elsewhere is currently in Beta stage and all of you can download it from here – just leave your email address (we are collecting your emails to notify you about Elsewhere release, no spam, we promise). Note, Beta version is valid until Elsewhere official release and will expire once it officially released.

And to make staying on Elsewhere page more pleasant for you we’ve added Elsewhere sounds on it – once you enter this page you’ll be surrounded by sounds of nature or city.

I’m in, give me Beta version!

Let us know which sounds you want us to add in the future and we will collect them for you (we can even land our developers in the jungle if you need r-r-really wild sounds:)

Recover PDF Password for Windows goes 4!

Posted by Alex Taylor on March 27th, 2012

Great news for all Recover PDF Password fans – we’ve just upgraded Windows application to version 4 and all of you are welcome to try it out.

Let’s take a closer look at novelties Recover PDF Password for Windows brings to you.

Totally new interface

Yeah, we’ve redesigned Recover PDF Password interface from scratch to make it even more user-friendly and convenient.

Those of you who have noticed new tab “Network Search” – keep on reading, this is the main innovation we’ve added;)

Even faster recovery process

Starting from version 4.x Recover PDF Password for Windows provides its users with much more powerful recovery mechanism – Network Distributed Search. Here’s how it works.

While previous version of Recover PDF Password for Windows was using your own computer resources when searching for passwords, the latest update allows using CPU of any quantity of computers on your network to find the password even faster. Much faster! Moreover you can manage the quantity of cores on remote machines you would like to use for password recovery.

In order to use remote machine’s CPU you will only need to install Recover PDF Password on it and connect using its IP address.

New license types

Starting from version 4.0 Personal License of Recover PDF Password for Windows is replaced by Single License. Single License allows you to use the program in a business environment, but lacks the Network search. Network Distributed Search is available in Network edition only.

We’ve got Network editions of two types – one allows connecting and using CPU of up to 10 computers (costs $159), the other doesn’t limit the quantity of remote machines you can involve in search (price is negotiable, please, contact us).

Business license is no longer offered and sold.

How to upgrade?

The last, but not the least, upgrade terms.

Those of you who had Personal License or Business License can upgrade to Network edition of any type with 80% discount. You can request your upgrade discount here.

If you own Personal License with Lifetime Upgrades Guarantee, you can upgrade to Single license (ver. 4.0) for free (note that it won’t feature network distributed search).

If you own Business License with Lifetime Upgrades Guarantee, please, contact our Support team for upgrade details.

And if you have purchased Personal license starting from March 1, 2012 and before March 26, 2012, you can upgrade to Network edition for up to 10 computers for free. Please email at support@eltima.com for further instructions.

If you cannot find answers to your questions in this post, please, drop us a line and we will assist.
