Andrew W. Zehner, a web designer from Elite Fotographics, uses Flash Decompiler Trillix in his daily work. Read his story in which he describes how he benefits from using this software.

industry: web design

Company Information: Elite Fotographics is a small Christian Graphic and Web Design company that caters to starting professional organizations and artists. They do professional CD covers, DVD cases, Posters, Book Covers, Websites and any other marketing material for those who need it and for HALF the price!

Alex Taylor: What challenges made you search for the software of this kind?

Andrew W. Zehner: One of the services we provide is for those unlucky web masters or site owners that had the unfortunate experience of a local system crash. Loosing everything is bad enough but then realizing you cannot edit your flash banners, animations, or buttons later on soon tops the scale of disaster evils when one realizes the price tag of having a professional recreate the once easy to edit material. I used to provide those heavy numbers to potential clients which were usually followed by a heavy sigh on the other end of the phone. There HAD to be something better! That’s where Eltima’s fine program comes in. With Flash Decompiler Trillix, time gets cut in half and likewise that heavy sigh transforms into a sigh of relief. How it works is simple, by retrieving the files from the internet servers and decompiling them, we can then get a file that can be saved and edited like normal. If I were to come up with a tag line for this software it would be somewhere along the lines of – It’s like magic! – and I stand by that.

Alex Taylor: How did you get to know about Flash Decompiler by Eltima Software?

Andrew W. Zehner: I knew there had to be something better than recreating or just paying for a new file. One slow morning I was determined to find the answer. I put on my wet suit, grabbed my virtual surf board and prepared for a long day of surfing to find a solution. Little did I know that my day at “GOOGLE beach” would be cut short. I found Eltima and plenty of information regarding Flash Decompiler Trillix. After downloading the trial I knew I found what I was looking for.

Alex Taylor: Did you try other products for the same task before choosing Eltima solution? Why did you prefer our product?

Andrew W. Zehner: There were several other programs that claimed the same type of results but no proof, no trials, and plenty of negative reviews to steer me away.

Alex Taylor: Please, describe how you are using our product now.

Andrew W. Zehner: There is only one way to use this excellent piece of programming and that is EASILY. With a few clicks I can load a flash file that is missing the original working file, decompile it, then save it to a new native file that can be opened and edited in Flash. I can then make changes, republish, and relax knowing that all the original fine points were not overlooked.

Alex Taylor: How did you benefit from using Eltima solution?

Andrew W. Zehner: Flash Decompiler Trillix, gave me piece of mind and more time to spend on other designs. Like many others, we had a severe crash awhile back and most of our original flash save files were lost. We couldn’t just buy them again as I created them, I couldn’t pull from the back up as it, likewise, was nowhere to be located. Then bursting on the computer screen like some sort of flash super hero was Eltima and their Flash Decompiler Trillix. And yes, they did save the day!

Flash Decompiler by Eltima Software is a feature rich and powerful SWF to FLA converter, which will help you decompile Flash movies, convert SWF elements into multiple formats and edit SWF movies on the go without Flash Studio installed.

And since 4.0 version Flash Decompiler supports Flex files into Flex projects decompilation.

This tutorial contains a detailed step-by-step description of Flex files to Flex projects conversion. But let us remind you some details about Flex files.

Flex files are created by Adobe Flex Builder. Flex files can be converted in Flex projects only and you’ll have to have Adobe Flex Builder installed in order to edit such projects. When converting Flex files into Flex projects with Flash Decompiler, Flash Decompiler will create a Flex Builder project which can be easily edited with Adobe Flex Builder.

So, if you have some Flex files you are about to convert in Flex projects, following tutorial will definitely help you!

Step 1. Please download the latest Flash Decompiler Trillix build and install it.

Step 2. After launching Eltima Flash Decompiler please switch to “Manage” tab. Press “Add task” and choose the Flex file you are about to convert.

For your convenience, while working with a file, you can see whether it is a Flash or Flex file (since 4.0 version Flash Decompiler supports Flex files into Flex projects decompilation). There will be corresponding icons to the left of the file name in “My tasks” list.

Step 3. After you added the required Flex file/files to be converted, please, switch to “Convert tab”, which is located at ribbon bar.

Step 4. Select the destination folder where the resulting Flex projects will be stored.

Step 5. If you want to start converting chosen Flex file to Flex projects with default settings, press “Convert current” button (“Convert all” button in case you’ve selected batch of Flash files).

Step 6. If you want to change conversion settings just switch to “Conversion options” tab.

We would love to let you examine Flash Optimizer deeper, show you its main features and abilities, demonstrate you its full power of optimization.

So, the first and foremost, Flash Optimizer owns a new, completely redesigned user interface. It is redeemed in all that Vista-style and gives you a stylish, glossy look. As you can see, it is now divided into two tabs for your convenience: “Compress one file” and “Compress many files”. This option is driven to help you make the first major step in optimization process easy and comfortable. No more multiple and confusing tabs! You get only two, and within these two you obtain the whole set of optimization options.

All GUI elements are grouped together for your comfort. A little built-in Flash player with playback options and little table to the right that shows you precisely of what elements your SWF consists of. All compression settings are situated on the same tab, just a little lower. All predefined parameters of compression have been tested by our professionals, so even Flash novices will receive great results without the need to learn how every SWF element is optimized. Alternatively, all advanced users will have the ability to tune the settings their own way, to make the optimization result the way they desired. “Preview Compression” button is a nice way to try various compression settings before the compression process itself. It gives you an opportunity to choose the best optimization balance.

New sound compression technology, that lets you optimize both event and stream sounds with multiple options, leads off the whole new set of features. Moreover, with Flash Optimizer you will be able to compress sounds by converting stereo to mono. New video conversion algorithms allow you to change video bitrate and ratio for embedded Flash video without significant quality loss. Other new features include completely new algorithms of images optimization, curves, fonts, zero-objects, vectors and Z-lib optimization. Flash Optimizer 2.0 opens a wide range of Flash optimization options, ensured by better usability and speed of the application. Moreover, Flash Optimizer fully supports Flash 8 and partially Flash 9, which we continue to work on.

You are welcome to download all new Flash Optimizer right away and take your own dive into Flash optimization.

With our recently released USB to Ethernet Connector 3.0 you can share any USB device located on your PC and connect to a shared device located on the remote computer over local area network or Internet.

The interface is very simple and is divided into 2 parts with controls to share local devices or connect to remote ones.

Nevertheless here is how you do it.

Share local USB devices

1. When launching the application there is a list of USB ports available on your PC. You can select a port and share it by clicking “Share local USB device” option even without a device plugged in. You can also apply a filter to view shared USB devices, present devices or connected devices only.

2. After you plug USB device into USB port, USB to Ethernet Connector will find it automatically. After clicking “Share local USB device” a dialog window will appear and you’ll be able to view information about the device you’re about to share and customize additional settings. These include:
- Customize TCP port;
- Enable traffic encryption;
- Enable authorization – this option allows you to set password to access shared devices.

Anyone who’s going to connect to shared devices will need to type the password you’ve entered within the field “Password”.

To unshare the device (or shared port) click “Unshare local USB device” button.

Connect to remote USB devices

1. To access remote USB devices switch to “Remote USB devices” tab and click “Add remote device” button. Then define remote host (ours is on the local network but you can choose any host either on the local network or Internet, just keep in mind that in order to share/connect to devices USB to Ethernet Connector needs to be installed on both computers) and press “Find”. The program will list devices/ports shared on the remote computer. Or you can press “Find all” and get the list of shared devices/ports within the whole local area network.

2. Now you can add remote devices/ports and connect to them by pressing “Establish connection” and entering authorization password. To disconnect the device press “Disconnect” button.

You can download free demo version of the application.

Purchasing a single licence allows you to install the application on 2 computers.

Flash Decompiler by Eltima is an extremely helpful tool for both Flash professionals and beginners. This time I’ll give you some tips about another helpful feature – global ActionScripts search.

If you need to find something within ActionScripts you can do as follows …

1. Launch your Flash Decompiler, add SWF file(s) to “My tasks” and choose “Search” tab. Trillix will automatically highlight “Scripts” in the list of SWF resources. Now determine “Logics” options in a pull-down menu (exact match, all words or any word). You can also customize your search by ticking checkboxes within “Search options” (ignore case, search for whole words only and search only in current SWF).

2. Now press “Search now” button. As you can see, a new “Search results” window has appeared. It contains data based on search options you’ve determined before. It also shows which SWF resource(s) uses the Script which contains the data you were searching for. Within the upper window you can change ActionScripts view to common presentation , Pi-code actions , hex dump or a split mode including Pi-codes and hex dumps – choose the one which fits your needs the most.

Download Flash Decompiler Trillix or you can buy this tool right now!

Now it’s time to explore another Flash Decompiler’s feature. I believe it will be extremely useful for you because in case you’d like to edit some elements:

a) you don’t need to run Adobe Flash;
b) there will be no losses as this feature doesn’t require converting into FLA;
c) it’s just fast and simple.

I’ll show you that editing Flash objects (images, sounds, links, dynamic texts) and shapes (colors and lines) is a very simple task if you try Flash Decompiler.

Well, you’ve added your SWF file to “My tasks” and ready to start. (If you somehow forgotten how to do it turn to the first how-to in this series).

“Edit” tab in the main application’s interface opens up possibilities to edit Flash objects and shapes without converting to FLA.

“Images”

Choose any image from the list in “My tasks” area. In the down left corner you see “Image properties” window. This is your aim. Within this window you can replace the original image with any other you choose, set JPEG or PNG format, modify quality and add/remove transparency.
(Please, don’t forget that our Decompiler lets you discard changes anytime.)

“Sounds”

The same simple scheme again. Now you see the “Edit sounds” window where you can change sound format (WAV and MP3 formats are available), replace existing sounds with any others, set mono/stereo audio reproduction and define sound quality (sound rate, bits per sample, MP3 bitrate).

“Dynamic texts”

Within “Edit dynamic texts” window you have plenty of customizable text parameters. They include: word-wrapping, multi-line text positioning, read-only text, automatic size setting, text selection, text as HTML, text color and aligning left/right, center or justify.

“Links”

Very simple. Just set link location and link target within “Edit links” window.

“Colors”

There is a great variety of colors available within “Edit color” window and you can replace or modify any color in your SWF file.

“Lines”

“Line properties” window has “Line thickness in twips” and “Colors” options so you can change line thickness (from 0 to 999 in twips) and line color.

By the way, Flash Decompiler also has “Tag information” window. It shows you the detailed information about currently selected resource, resources it uses and what it is used by.

Download Flash Decompiler Trillix or you can buy this tool right now!

SWF Capture Tool embeds into both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers so there are two ways to download and save an SWF file.

So, let’s begin…

In case you use Internet Explorer…

1. When you open the page with Flash you’ll see this button and after clicking it “Save Flash Movie” window will appear. You can preview the movie within this window and take a snapshot.

Today I’ll tell you guys how to convert your SWF file into FLA using Flash Decompiler…

1. At the start of an application you see that “Manage” tab is active. Here you can manage your Flash files and tasks, preview files and take snapshots.

2. To add SWF or EXE Projector file to “My tasks” double-click it or choose “Add task” icon or just drag it from Explorer to “My tasks” area. Note, that you can add multiple tasks and use batch conversion. Now you can look through “SWF File Info”, “SWF Resources Info” and all specific information about the particular resource.

3. Choose “Convert” tab and specify the conversion path. “Open file after conversion” option makes Flash Decompiler open converted file(s) in Adobe Flash right after conversion. You can get your FLA files just right away by clicking “Convert current” (convert the highlighted file) or “Convert all” icon (if there are more than one file in “My tasks” area).
The file(s) will be converted with default settings.

4. In case you want to view or change conversion settings switch to “Conversion options” tab and you’ll see 4 subtabs where you can adjust some additional settings.
“General” – Here you can specify Motion tweens parameters (movement smoothness and length factor), objects parameters (place shapes into library, decompile symbols not present at timelime and join mask layers) and configure morph detection and decompilation options.
“FLA” – Set the version of FLA format to be created, set the default version of SWF format to be published after converting and name Library folders.

“Text” – Determine static text bounding box expansion and other text options (place texts into library, convert static text into shapes and force ANSI encoding).
“ActionScript” – Here you will find ActionScript options (decode built-in MX classes, combine all scripts into folder, recover original veriables names) and Code format (braces at new line, braces around single statement, use getProperty/setProperty, use tabs and indent size).
Remember that our Decompiler allows you to reset settings to default anytime you wish.

5. So, you’ve already set conversion options and ready to get your FLA files. Switch back to “Convert” tab, click “Convert current” or “Convert all”. Activity log will show you the details of conversion and after a few seconds (time elapsed depends on quantity of the files and their size) you have your FLA files in the specified folder (“Conversion path”).
After filming a video on your mobile you can post it anywhere on the Internet! Guess how?

After filming the video you want to post it on your site or any video-resource so everyone will be able to watch it. However, the problem is that your video can be in 3GP, AVI, MPEG, WMV or ASF format. In order to watch movie directly within the browser and not to puzzle over certain player or plug-in, it should be converted into compatible format, e.g. SWF or FLV. Flash is currently the dominant format for displaying graphics and video on the Net and it doesn’t require too much to download.

You can convert your movie into SWF or FLV format easily using SWF Video Converter. Add playback and sound controls, copyright your movie by adding watermark and crop unwanted areas to get really immense movie! There is also an opportunity to replace original soundtrack with your own one in several clicks.

There is no difference whether you can cope with web-mastering and web-design or not, still you are able to create your own Flash web page with your video embedded! You just need to choose “Create HTML page and integrate the resulting movie into it”.
